My brother just picked up a '93 YJ.
In the box of parts we got, there was this:

It's a Warn, but what is it?
Obviously we need a cable. Where is the best place to get that?
The roller fairlead is still mounted to the winch plate on the Jeep.
What else do we need?
Thanks!

Looks like an 8000 lbs winch just make some in cab switches for it and see of it works then buy some cable for it

I'd wager to guess that is a Warn MX 8000 D1 (http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache%3ApOmqYwJub4AJ%3Awww.warn.com%2Ftruck%2FReplacementParts%2Fparts%2F7%2Fsrrpl115-116.pdf+MX+8000&hl=en&gl=us&sig=AHIEtbSB6ZzVLceiRTrdxuwJCbdvl68dLQ&pli=1). If it is then it predates the M8000.
You don't really need a controller from Warn which are $$$. You can either make your own controller and use a generic kit box or you could hardwire it to the dash or console. For the solenoid box you can get a plastic box that sort of fits and drill holes to screw into the backing plate. I wouldn't leave them exposed since there is an off chance of you touching them or something arching them as there is no off switch for them.

Warn used to have the solenoid controller diagram on their web page.
You can build one out of std solenoids.

Your winch appears to be Warn model #25314 Vehicle Winch. This Winch is rated for 8000 lbs.

That's a Motor PN.

Looks exactly like my M8000 if that helps...
