OK I am on a serious streak of issues with my lil yj. I went to the car wash to spray the attica off my yj. When I got a block from my house, I noticed there was a loud high pitched whine/grinding noice. The best way to describe would be say it sounds like a belt but not. when I am not rolling it stops, once I start rolling again it starts again . In drive and reverse. I have no way to better locate at this time bc I cannot hear or be outside while its rolling. Does anyone have this happen any ideas on what it may be or where to start trouble shooting. Thanks

Maybe something in the brakes.

tranny maybe - put the rear on jackstands and put it in drive - that way you can listen outside the vehicle.

Coulda washed some dirt and rocks in to the brakes

Do not dismiss the driveshafts. taje the front one out first drive it see if it goes away if not try the back one and drive it in 4wheel/ front wheel drive.

Sounds like a rock stuck in a brake drum.

Just shoveled out..damn lotta walk on a corner lot...lol. I was thinking if I put tcase in neutral and put in drive and it does it wouldnt that mean its coming from tranny. Well thats my plan
1. put tcase in neutral and put in drive and reverse if no noise than
2. put on jackstands while off in neutral and turn wheels by hand and try and isolate noise
3. while on jackstands turn on and run in reverse and drive

yeah, that's a better plan, that way you don't really need to lift it if it makes the noise with the t-case in neutral.
