My fan control relay burned up. Anyone have a good online source for relays. Here's a pic of the control module I'm running with the relay I need. The only place I've found so far has a $25.00 minimum order fee and the damn relay is only $2.05. Any help would be appreciated.

ebay is one place, but shipping will be extra - the $3 relay could be the reason it died (unless it's overloaded) but a bosch relay will take you to about $15 or $20 at an autoparts store

Did you burn up the relay and the controller? I use two separate units.

As long as you're not using the Hi-speed/hi-amp fan, a 40A should be OK.

Jeff, just the relay burned out. The plastic cover cracked and the relay internals got wet causing it to fry.

that shouldn't happen (case to crack), there's a 60 amp relay on the site Jeffy posted, i suggest you to go with that one. also, i would monitor the wires to make sure they are not heating up and if they do you'll need an upgrade on the wiring.

not sure about his i got something similar but with the thread in probe for around $40, the thru-fins was about $30 or a bit more - they are available at summit racing among other sellers. The one in the picture is adjustable just like the one i got and in my case was preset to 160 but you can set it to a lower temp even depending on where you locate the probe.

I paid $26 for the controller, free relay with my fan but they usually cost $3-6. A couple spools of wire are around $8-10... I keep wire on-hand though as well. Misc connector and such too...

I would ditch the whole controller idea and just use a temp switch and a relay.
Use a screw in temp switch to install near the temp housing or stick the thing in a piece of tube with a weld in bung in the upper radiator works like a charm and it's cheap and reliable

i welded a 3/8 plate on the bottom of my aluminum rad and had it drilled and tapped for the sender, but in your case i suggest the thru fins or use an adapter that goes on the top hose in which the thread in one goes. Most people use it on top of the rad or the top hose, so I'm not going to suggest the bottom unless you want to experiment (in my case i use a larger radiator so i am hoping with the sender on the bottom the fan will start less since it measures the water temp after it cooled thru the rad).

it's also basic - with the adjustable one you can tweak better and keep the fan operation at minimum, although like you said it's less complicated with a normal thermocouple and more reliable - i have a 190F basic in parallel with the adjustable switch that will serves as a failover

I recently installed the Taurus fan into my 92 YJ......along with the Summitt Racing relay and temp probe. It all worked very well for about two weeks....until I went Jeeping at Pumpkin Eater in So Cal....and I just happened to glance at my temp gauge and it was at the far right side....OH SH**.......overheating. Stopped, opened the hood....and antifreeze was shooting out of the overflow tank. Let it cool off....then unplugged the switch from my driving lights.....wired it right into the battery and the fan.....and off we went. the relay went bad......now it has a fuse inline direct from the fan to the new switch inside the Jeep....and it is then powered off the fuse box as well. So...the relay fried.....and now it is without a relay.....works great.

I highly recommend using a relay. It would have been safer to run the wire straight to the battery and not to the fuse box. Electrical fires aren't fun.
