Title: Clutch Feel
Post by: GBJeep on February 01, 2010, 09:23:34 AM
So this is kind of stumping me.  I have a 91 yj with a hydraulic clutch.  It normally grabs in the middle of the travel zone for the pedal.  But, when it gets cold, 20 deg and below, it grabs real close to the floor, and every now and then I have to pump the pedal to get it to go into first.

The temperature is the only thing I can think of as to a reason, but what is it doing to the system to cause this, and is there any fix for it?

Thanks in advance for you input and expertise.

sounds like is either the clutch MC or the slave unless you're losing fluid pressure somewhere - check for leaks at the MC (take the booth of the end and see if it's flodded with brake fluid).

You might consider flushing the fluid and see if that helps any.  Fluid is probably old and dirty if it's never been changed.
