Title: Catalytic convertor or not?
Post by: rc10t4orange on February 04, 2010, 06:55:40 PM
I think my Jeep needs to breath a little better so I was wondering if anyone had run their 97-? 2.5L TJ without a cat?  Does this cause a code to be set?  If it does I will just go with a good high flow one.  Thanks

Yes, a code will be triggered from the down steam O2.

Well crap  :flush: I hadnt been underneath it yet to see that there are 2 O2's.  Thanks for the info.  Guess I'll have to find a good hi-flow one.

There is no reason not to run a cat these days.  It is illegal to run without a cat in all states as well.  Although you will probably get pulled over for something else.  If the officer wanted to check he could do so afterward.

You don't gain much of anything these days by removing a catalytic converter, they're not as restrictive as they once were.

Just get a high flow one and call it good; I got a car sound by magnaflow, and I am happy with it...

Carsound has been absorbed my MF so it's all MagnaFlow now.
