I found a guy who is trying to get rid of it (has it on CL and ebay) and I think I could get it for a decent price, but would this be a bit overkill for a jeep?

Nice winch - kinda slow.  Just remember that they are supposed to front mount like an 8274, not bottom mount.  So you need a special winch mount.
