Title: Trying to fix my wipers
Post by: Darteres on March 25, 2010, 02:42:16 PM
I have a 95 Rio Grande that is having some wiper issues.  Every so often, the drivers side wiper will go too far to the left and become stuck.  I dropped the windshield to see what was up.  I found this worn out part on what I assume is the arm from the motor that controls the wiper linkage.

I believe there should be some kind of way to attach that to the linkage here:

but the parts were just very loosely stuck on each other.  I checked out quadratec and wasn't able to find a replacement part.  Surely there is a way to fix this without replacing the whole motor??  Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for looking!

i had the same problem and the way i fixed it (was supposed to be temporary) i took out the teflon busing off the lever and put in the rod first, then the bushing and the clip on top of that - that kept the rod from coming out. I think i also added a big washer to keep all in place. used it for 2 years after that with no problems. not sure if you can do the same but just an idea - it might work.

I flipped that bushing around and if i remember correctly i think i took the lever off the motor so i have more room when setting all that.

I haven't had any luck hitting up the local parts stores for a new bushing.  For some reason, they all have bushings for a Cherokee, but can't get them for a Wrangler.  I brought mine with me and compared.  The ones on a Cherokee are only open at one end so there would be no way to get the split ring back on the other side.  For the time being, I've got it all put back together the way it was.  Gonna try some other parts stores in the next town over.  Thanks for the help.
