Title: Power steering cooler
Post by: neale_rs on April 26, 2010, 05:39:36 PM
I´m considering using the tranny cooler in the new radiator to cool the power steering fluid.  Should the cooler be placed a) between the steering box and the reservoir or b) between the reservoir and the pump?

It seems a) would be better so it would be downhill from the reservoir to the pump and not uphill from the cooler to the pump... but not sure.

Thanks

I would put it between the steering box and the reservoir as the fluid will be at it's hottest.

Between the steering box and the reservoir.  I picked up a cheap Hayden tranny cooler from the parts store for about $25, works good for power steering.  It's a MUST if you run a front locker.

This has been on my list of to do's for years. I picked up my cooler from Summit. It's a 4 pass type cooler. I debated to go with the heat sink type but choose the multi pass. Now I just need to get off my butt and do it.
