Title: J Truck Axles?

I was thinking of looking into swapping axles from a J series truck - J10 has D44 front/rear, J20 has d44 front & D60 rear. Would they be too wide, how much wider? I've searched & found nothing. How much would be involved? Worth doing?

Make sure the front is a driver drop not a passanger drop. Not sure on the width, might be a bit wide.

What are they going into a YJ or TJ?

IIRC, the wide-trac should be 58".

I talked with my FSJ buddy. He said the J trucks came with a variety of axles depending on year. The rears had semi float and full float D60's and they also came with a M20. Some of the D60's were offset. Most were in the 64-65 inch range. Which would not be bad, you can shorten the long side and get a centered diff with about the correct width. The fronts were D44's but they had many small changes thruout the production run. There is no aftermarket shafts for the J10-J20 D44 it would need custom shafts if you were going to upgrade or narrow. Some had driver drop some passanger so make sure you know what your looking at. They all should be 8 lug.

Not to mention some use tiny drums and 4 wheel drums.  The D44 with front drums will usually have closed knuckles as well.

They're pretty wide, considered full-width by many.  Stick with Waggy axles if you want near stock width.

Not all are 8lug, many were 6 lug.
