Title: high idle speed
Post by: sfcl on June 12, 2010, 08:38:45 AM
Hi all,
On my 1992 multipoint EFI, I have removed and cleaned the throttle body and the idle motor, replaced the TPS by a brand new one, replaced all the seals and gaskets. Since that the idle is very high (between 1500 and 1800 rpm). Otherwise the engine runs perfect. Any idea? Thanks!

Solved! I've just had to disconnect the battery terminals and put the 2 wires in contact to empty the processor memory. All is ok now. Sorry.

hmm, weird, that shouldn't happen but might be b/c of the tps although should have recovered on it's own once you had the new one installed.

Have been having the same type of issues, but mine was 2500 RPM at idle.  After resetting the computer it is doing around 1500 RPM.  I have to replace my gasket in the intake/exhaust manifold because it leaks like a sieve, could this be the problem?

High idle is a good sign of an intake leak someplace.  TB and intake are you're suspects.
