Title: Windshield wiper problem, electrical or motor
Post by: gomi on June 16, 2010, 05:41:37 AM
Hey guys, I am just looking for some input and advice about my wipers. A few weeks ago my wipers wouldn't turn on. Then a couple of days later they worked just fine. They were ok for a few weeks and last night stopped working again. Has anyone had this problem before, I was wondering if it was a motor problem or perhaps some sort of electrical. If it is electrical, does anyone have any advice as to where the problem may be happening? Thanks everyone!

HI! Thanks, I checked the fuses so I guess next would be the switch. Do you mean the switch at the steering column?

Also, check the harness that runs under the dash to the steering wheel.  Intermittent working, sounds like a lose connection someplace.  Most likely at the steering wheel.

mine did that not too long ago. finally lost them completely durin a storm. slow speed wouldnt work and then fast speed wouldnt work either. turned out to be the motor. opened it up and noticed it was corroded and stuff. went and got a rebuilt one from nappa. good to go. wasnt a hard install and wasnt too expensive. By the way, when i opened mine i noticed the boot that covers it was torn (from age i guess?) so i just taped it back up and made sure it was all sealed nice around the new one.

Thanks for all the help, I'm going to poke around and check all the connections in a minute. It keeps looking like rain but I've manage to luck out!
