Just a quick question:
How much taller is a Jeep (YJ) with a soft top with bows compared to a with a hard top? My parking space has a low entry height. There are a few inches to spare with the current hard top but not much.
Thanks

4"

That's a lot. Some quick measurements yesterday looked like it had about 5" to spare so it might work but it will be really close.
Checking prices, the Bestop with soft doors (I want to get rid of the hard doors too) would cost about as much as the CaliforniaTop (frameless)without doors, so the Bestop was my first choice. Now the frameless is looking better. Either way it will be a fairly cheap mod once most if not all of the cost is recovered by selling the hard top and full hard doors.
Thanks

Frameless will be 2" less then your hardtop.

That would allow for bigger tires :pot:

Wanna buy some 37's :drink:
I like the way your thinking. :thumb:

I couldn't make it into the parking garage with my 36" TSL's that I had parked in previously with my worn out 35" radials.

I might have to invest in some home improvements to allow the Jeep to grow!

Park outside, it's free. My Jeep fits in my garage still so that's one of the reason's I'm not looking to go bigger. If I put my rack on it doens't fit. Also, as of now it fits in 90% of the parking garages around here which is also a plus. The downside is that that last 10% is in the city where there is no street parking which really sucks.

I doubt they would drop much at all.

if it did fit with his 35'' ones 1/2'' is all he needs (ok, they were worn so maybe 1'' - i would think they would drop that much on the tall sidewall if you deflate them enough).

TSL's especially bias ply tires run tall. This is probably done to make up for their low tread life. In radials, a 35" tire is more like 34.3-5" for an AT and 34.5-7" for an MT. Interco bias ply will be just over 36". This is why I run a 34x9.0R15 as a spare with my 35x12.5R15 MT/R's. They're about the same height. I would suspect that a warn 35" radial is more like a tall 33" MT.
