Saw these and thought it was an interesting idea. Not sure I like how clunky it looks though. The company is called Phoenix Pop-up Campers. http://www.coyoterv.biz/

not big on that. ugly. and it looks like it just over top of the hard top?
-
So it looks like it is just sitting over the stock hard top?

ya thats what I said!! weird? I don't get it really if thats the case?
usually I pull a small utility trailer and load it with the coolers and tents and go that way!! works great. that way to I can bring my little guys peddle bike to!!

i don't get what's the point of having that door in the back if the tailgate is behind it :yikes:

For the money, I'd rather have one of those Jeep trailers. The camper top is around $12,000.

imo both prices are ridiculous but to be honest i can't see them running a manufacturing business w/o charging that price - it's not like you can make them in china for the volume they are probably selling.
I looked on their site, i couldn't find the Jeep one and still can't get my head around the way it is supposed to be installed and used with the hardtop on - i think those pics were just a mockup and the product would be custom made.

ya i hope it's mark up

It's already marked up, that's why it's $12,000

i meant mockup as in built on top of the hardtop to see how it looks and not fully functional

My guess is that they cut the tailgate up. Seems strange to even have sliver of window still there. It's probably not even glass though. I think it would have been better if they didn't have to cut anything.
Can't imagine a kitchen in there or even a table.

I think for the money involved -- new Rubicon unlimited optioned out (40k) + 12k for the top -- I'd make a deal on a used Mercedes G Wagon, buy a surplus tent, a coleman stove, piss in the woods and call it even :wall: I'd just get killed when the thing needed service though...

Most of the G-wagons in the US are all Luxury vehicles, not the utilitarian versions everyone else gets. For teh money, you would be better off buying a used Defender 90 or even a 110. Or better yet a Toyota Land Cruiser 80, 90 or even a 100.

Yeah, but with the Luxury G Wagon I'd have a shot at talking Miss July and Miss August in to getting out in the backwoods and roughing it with yours truly :naughty:. With the camper Rubicon or the utility G Wagon, probably not.

Dream on Chris

You're right, Art, I am dreaming taking two.
After all, once the other playmates know I'm camping with two of 'em, another three or four of those girls will demand to come along.
G-Wagon will definitely need a third row seat and a roof rack.
