Title: Clifford Header Install
Post by: melbill on September 06, 2010, 04:24:49 PM
I have a Clifford header for my '95 YJ.  I am having some trouble with the install.  I know some people on this board have uses these headers.  Are you supposed to use the stock mounting points, or drill out others?  How do you reach the lower rear stock mounting point?

Thanks for the help

Bill

you could take the intake out (if you didn't yet), makes things lot easier (i assume you did but just based on your question regarding the rear bolt). Also, just in case, check the thickness of the header flange (that goes on the cyl head) and make sure it matches the intake, if not you'll need some custom washers (if it didn't come with washers, not sure how the clifford is but the pacesetter i have had some)

I think I will have to take it off.  I was wondering about the the washers, they are off just a little.

Thanks again

you might want to get a 1 piece intake/exhaust gasket - that could equalize the thickness (maybe that's why is off)

Yes you need the 1 piece full length combination intake and exhaust gasket if its like my Thorley header.
94 and 95 only had a gasket on the intake, the exhaust was naked from the factory.
The stock iron manifolds are just slightly thicker to match the intake.
Just one of the reasons they cracked stock manifolds like crazy.
