I want power steering. I ended up pulling all the steering components off of a 1990 cherokee. If I buy the correct mounts and correct hoses, will it work?

The pump and box are the same, but you'll likely need the YJ brackets to mount the pump.

Cool, all I needed to know, thanks. Off to look for YJ brackets.........

I'm not sure but I might have one.. depends if last clean up it got tossed

Let me know. I haven't found any yet. Surely I can get them at the junk yard though.

No luck with any of the local Junk yards. I can get most of the parts from the dealer but they can't get one of the brackets. Still looking around if anyone has any to get rid of.

Check here: www.car-parts.com
You could also source parts from a 2.5L Dodge Dakota. A Dakota steering box is a common swap for a YJ/TJ box as well. I would think an XJ would be easy. You should also be able to get parts off a 4.0L (XJ, ZJ, MJ, TJ, etc...) as they should use the same brackets. I forget the exact year but in the 2000's when they switched things around on the engine so a bracket off one of the late models might not work.

Good to know. I got the power steering off an 89-92 cherokee sport, 4.0. The brackets would work but the bolt holes don't line up. I'll check out that site, Thanks.

can't remember for sure but i think the Cherokee had a different offset on the pulleys, might want to check that to make sure the belt is tracking properly (could be different years but i remember running into that issue at some point when i was scavenging some parts)
