Here we are in winter again and I only have warm heat, not hot. It doesn't really heat up the jeep on really cold days. I even have a hard top. What are some of the first things I should check before wasting money at a shop? Thanks.

Is the air flow strong even though it's just warm? If you feel the plenum, is it warm or hot? You'll want to feel it right where the core sits. Hows your coolant look? Is there a lot of calcium on the core?
You might consider a home flushing kit. Or add an additive to flush the system out. If you jsut want to flush the core then disconnect the lines that go through the firewall and use a hose to see if there is flow. Hold the hose up to the outlet so it will help remove the scale.
A 2.5L heater should heat up pretty quick.

Been really busy with school so I haven't had the time to flush it yet. My radiator is good, but it is a newer radiator. The older one you could put your finger through it was so rotted. I am also going to change the thermostat while I am at it. I will let you know how it goes. wish me luck

If the radiator was that bad the odds are the heater core is too.....
IN my experience the heater core looks just like the insides of the radiator.

How is your engine temp may be that your engine isn't warming up especially if your still running a clutch fan that runs all the time if t-stat is bad it would never warm up properly
