has anyone spliced into high beam with driving lights? can it be done without a meltdown? If so, what is the recipe? thanks

Could you just slice into the highbeam and run it to your driving/off-road light's relay?

Someone else asked about splicing lights just the other day. It's not a good idea unless you do it right. You'd want the lights to be wired directly to the battery through a relay and have the led to the switch spliced into the high beam switch wiring. You do not want to use a crimp on splice but do a propper solder splice.
Like I told the other person, it would be better if they went with a DPST switch. This wy they could turn the lights on independantly, turn them off or have them turn on with the regular lights/high beams.

I guess I could throw something together. There is a wiring diagram for the OEM foglights but I'm you want the fancy setup I was talking about?

Ok, I did a schematic on the headlamp and foglamp circuits. It is a adaptation of the OEM setup but wired better. This should turn on the lights when the headlights are turned on as well as allow you to turn them on independantly as well as leave them off.
I have not done the relay schematic but I would assume that would be straight forward. I can however do one for the relay also if it really is required.
I should also mention, I haven't wired my lights up like this before. I prefer to have my lights work independantly from the headlights but the schematic should work.
