It does make a difference. I could drive into a slight headwind and maintain speed in 5th gear. I couldn't do that before. I haven't wheeled off road yet but it feels like I have a little more torqe to play with in the lower RPMs. Does anyone know approximately how many horses this mod can add to a 2.5L? Also has anyone noticed a power difference by adding a TB spacer or would it even be worth the money? I paid $65 for the 4.0 TB from the local salvage yard.....was that in the ballpark of what you'd pay?

I paid around $35 each for mine and my Dad's but $65 is still not bad. It depends on where you find them. The TB definately helps for a smoother acceleration and better bottom end torque. It is definately worth the $65. Good buy.

60mm on top, 55mm on the bottom (under the butterfly where it mates with the intake manifold). Stock 2.5L is something like 48mm on the bottom.

I did this a while ago. i paid 45 to pull it myself from a junkyard. It added a lot more pep to my engine.

they are unrelated
to answer your question would be for a 2.5L - they are dependent of the t/b position in relation to the body (front grill and driver side inner fender) and that remains the same, all it changes is the the internal diameter of the t/b
EDIT: the 2.5L CAI kits usually have a longer tube due to the t/b being closer to the firewall.

the heat shield is more to prevent hot air from the engine bay entering the intake (so that's good), but make sure it seals around the hood and inner fender well. I went with the K&N Apollo CAI which is a fully enclosed cone filter and connected that to a snorkel.
EDIT: definitely get one with at least the heat shield if not enclosed, so that's a plus on the AirRaid one (or whichever way is spelled) - just to answer your yay/nay - there are some out there w/o the shield separating the engine bay from the filter, that's a bad thing.

I paid about $20 for mine. I thought it would help and my problems only seem to get worse. Turned out my TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) was on the frits making the computer was thinking I was romping on the gas at mid posistion, dumping way to much fuel and then bogging it down. Replaced the TPS from Quadratect for $35 and now it's great. Wish I would had known to check the TPS a year ago. The 4.0 throttle body has made a lot stronger idle and slow crawling power before it stalls. Worth the bit of time to mess with it.

We just did this to our Jeep last week and can feel a difference. Already had the intake and ordered a TB ans spacer from ebay. Boring out intake wasn't to bad just makes a mess with the shavings... The only problem we had was with AIS sensor. Instead of reading the Jeffy's post fully and changing the entire housing i just changed the sensor. It ran but revd high and didn't want to come down. After i re-read the thread and put the entire housing, not just the senor on it was much better. Overall easy install that I would recommend to everyone.
