Title: SPark Plug and PullEY Problems
Post by: GreenJeeper20 on February 24, 2006, 02:02:27 PM
Never been in an online jeep forum before but hopefully U guys can help.  Went off-roading in my lifted 95 Jeep YJ.  Went through everything with ease but about halfway through the engine started to sound like it was misfiring.  My friends with me assured me that it was just the spark plugs getting wet that caused this problem.  But i replaced them anyway and got new wires.  But, today I was on my way to the welding shop and when i tured i noticed that I didn't have any powersteering.  Checked the fluid and it was low so i added some.  Still had no powersteering, and when I checked under the hood again the fan belt had somehow come very loose (wasn't moving at all when engine was cranked) and upon futher inspection I am missing the bottom idler pulley.  Has anyone ever heard of a pulley just FALLING OFF??!?!?!?!??!  Going to advance auto for new pulley and fan belt.  weird isn't it

My water pump pulley on my Mustang 302 came off once.isn't it

My Water pump pulley came off once on my Mustang 302. The bolts stripped themselves some how. That was weird for me too. Prolly just had a lose bolt or something and fell off. it happens to the best of us. But still is a little strange.

Your engine should have a 6 groove serpentine belt.  Thtere are probably two ilder pullies on the engine.  (Could be one depending on early it was built.)  Idlers do go bad.  There is only one bolt holding them on so if it loosens up it could easily fall off.

Should be $10 to replace the pulley.
