Title: Beemer NP231, where else are they found?
Post by: dwtaylorpdx on April 14, 2011, 10:42:16 PM
So we have been chatting about the NP231 variants It occurred to me that if the Rubber U-joint is between the BMW transmission and the transfer case that means its a divorced unit...

The stock BMW trans has a 2 piece 3 joint drive line. The rubber joint is called a Guibo and isolates the harmonics in the drive line and road noise from the car. Would be interesting to try one in teh driveline of a Jeep, they are stronger than one would think and fail in a non catastrophic mode when they do...

Be interesting to make a list of all the NP231/241 variants and their application... Might find some cool parts swaps...
