I bought one a WHILE back (dec 2007) from eBay; LoadBoss 165A for $190 shipped including the new wire to connect to the battery (I left the old one in place and added the new one)... Dont know what else is out there, but mine has worked out just fine (still running strong).

Just checked NAPA online nothing above90 Amp and all much more than $130. You got lucky. Not getting a starter there either.

did you use the FAQ part numbers to price out or did you just ask them by vehical look up because the other "higher amp" may not show up as a option but they will work

Mine was a custom wound Alt. That's why it's 170A. 136A is the norm for an OE application. An Alternator shop can up the rating easily if you want to go that route. The place I bought mien from as just that. There are a few of them still on ebay. It needs to be a motor/alternator shop and not a parts store.

I put a 160a on mine. Ebay $98 including shipping. I think it's the same one used on a 1500 dodge pickup but im not positive.

More then likely it's 136A if it's OE. The higher rated ones are usually modified by rebuilders.

the alternator was from a builder. They said it was 160A but I haven't tested it. you could be correct.

Yeah, they can bump them up. Mine's a 170A from a rebuilder.
