hi folks, i have a '89 wrangler 2.5l tbi

can i get rid of all the smog crap / vacume and leave just the map sensor connected?

Nutter Bypass wouldn't apply to a tbi 2.5l...

if you really wanted to and didn't care about emissions or the law, you could rip out everything except the line for the Map, the pcv lines, the line for the heater controls, and the line for the central axle disconnect if you want 4wd to work (unless you went with a posi-loc or 1 piece axle).. there really aren't that many vacuum lines on the tbi compared to the late carburetor motors egr and hot air intake systems are about the only two none essential things (the gas vapor purge is interconnected with the egr circuit.

Ah, that's right it's requires a carter carb.

In any case you would not see any increase in HP.  Unfortunately you don't get something for nothing.

thanks for the replys, all the pipes on my charcoal can were split and engine did not run right,

i bit the bullet and replaced all of them toinght, and it seems much better,

decided not to rip it all out for now

Probably better just to maintain the system ... unless you find yourself in a "Road Warrior" scenario.
