Title: Single shear shock mount
Post by: neale_rs on June 16, 2011, 10:14:23 AM

How thick should the material be for a single shear shock mount?  Let's say it sticks out perpendicular to the mounting surface (welded on) only about 1" or 1.5".  1/4" stock seems too thin to me.  Would 3/8" be enough or would 1/2" be needed to be strong enough?

An axle tube or on a u-bolt skid plate, pretty stiff surface.
