Title: Wheels
Post by: Jeffy on June 23, 2015, 10:02:21 PM
Anyone ever see these before?  They're 17x8 and come in 5" BS as well as 5.5" with a 6x5.5" bolt pattern (as well as 5x4.5").  Though I'd like them more if they were 4.75" BS and maybe came in 8 lug pattern.

I've never seen these wheels before.  Been thinking about going to 17" dia. to take advantage of larger brakes.  I might just bite the bullet and go with some Cooker Smoothies.

I have the same brand but D window ones 15x10, 5x4.5 with 3.75 b/s, they run true

why 8 lug pattern?

3/4-1T axles.  They're built like a positive offset wheel so they're not nearly as dished as the others they make.  You can see how far the lug surface is recessed.

You're buying 3/4 or 1ton axles?

I haven't decided on what I want to do just yet...

I thought you wanted a lighter Jeep...  Less rock crawler and more overland.  Wasn't that why you went with smaller tires?

Things change and I haven't decided on what I want to do just yet.  I might consider going up to BFG's 34x10.5R17's which is the closest to a skinny 35".  Though I think I'm going to address the engine first.  We'll see what happens.

Have been using TJ wheels on my YJ for the last few years -- I've got Ravines on now.  The TJ Rubicons look decent on YJs, also.  Think the rectangular-ish spokes on both jive with the rectangular headlights.

I ended up coming to my senses and I think I'll go with Wheel Vintiques which sells vintage style wheels which look a lot like the old kelsey hayes wheels that just about every OEM used back in the day.  I'm torn between 7" or 8" and 15" vs 16" but I'm not in a hurry.

The problem with 16" is that the tires 255/85R16's only come as a E Class tire.  And 8" is a little wide for a 10.5" tire.  I'm currently running 33x10.5R15's so I might judt stick with them.  The other thing is 7" come with 4.5" BS which is alright.

That's 1" less them my stock TJ 15x7's which is probably good since I've got the turn stops shimmed out with two washers.  The 8" only come in 4" BS which adds another .5" to the mix.  I don't want to have to install larger flares as I like the stock YJ flares though I think both would fit under the flare.

The 8" would also allow me to go to a wider tire but I don't think that will happen.  Also, 16" would allow me to use a larger brake package.  I'm not in a hurry with this either since I would also have to plan out what axles I want to go with them.  No point in swapping wheels just to do it again when I change axles later on down the road.

Here's the 7" with 4.5" BS

You can see how much deeper the 8" with 4" looks.
