Have been having trouble with the front seat belts in the YJ. They sometimes get stuck when being pulled out and often don't retract fully. They are 29 years old after all.
Does anybody know of a good replacement so that they are as much like stock as possible? In particular, are there any that will keep the part that is bolted to the floor raised next to seat like the stock setup?

« Last post by Jeffy on December 21, 2023, 08:52:31 PM »I always make sure to drive the Jeep around and do some highway driving if you can. Going to the closest guy isn't always the best as there isn't time for the engine to really heat up the cat.

I found a amr 500 supercharger on amazon for $120. its made for 2.0 motors so it'll be safe for ours. You'll also have to get a blowoff valve which is about $20 on ebay motors and a intercooler for about $70. I still have to get piping and metal to make mounts and to run everything together. if anyone else has tried this before please let me know if there is anything else I need before I get my hopes up.I'm always wary of going too cheap. Keep us updated though!

At 200k I had replaced the Cat thinking it was time. It passed but two years later I had the same problem.
The mechanic at the station explained to me that the Jeep was running too lean to fire up the Cat and that aftermarket Cats are notorious for it. He finally got it to pass and I asked how he did it.
He told me that he pulled a spark plug wire while it was running, letting unburnt fuel to reach the Cat,
then plugged it back in still running. He rechecked again and it cut the NOX in half.

« Last post by Jeffy on March 12, 2023, 06:04:22 PM »Pretty much have been welding once a week since then. Here's my very first project. This was maybe the second week in. Looks like crap but it's holding. I'll probably redo it when I do more work on it soon.
This was in early February.
Then late last month, I figured I needed to fix my shock issue. Up to this point I had been welding on a bench. It was completely different having to shove my head into the wheelwell.
There's some poracity here but it's only that scraggly line. I ground it out.
The welding part is easy compared to having to match the two sides.

Hopefully this forum isnt too dead. Carcaine addict. Picked up a project '95 YJ Safari off of CraigsList a few years back in Florida. I have another main project car that gets my free time and $$$, so been very slowly going at the YJ. A lot of "buying someone else's project" problems. Fixed a lot of rat nests of wiring, rust, replaced missing suspension stuff, blown a lot of head gaskets and decked the head so many times that my compression is probably crazy high. Built motor, but making way to much boost on a Chinese turbo. Currently in the process or planning of replacing the old school AEM ecu with a MicroSquirt, adding A/C, obtaining a hard top, etc. If you like slow and painful builds then I might have something to document here.
