Ignition / Coil question

[1990 yj 2.5l TBI   , Are there any alternitive  ignition /coil  set ups other than stock that will work for this model.  ive melted a couple icm and coils wheelin down hear in sunny fl. (thankfully i always carry a spare)  2.  when runnin around town ,stop and go sometimes ill come back out and engine will spin like a top but wont crank. 1 shot of ether and she fires right up. what are your thoughts . hot icm and weak spark? weak coil?  let hear it. thanks

do a compression test warm see what it says. Check the spark when is not starting and also look in the t/b and see if it gets fuel when this happens as well. Hard to guess without some more info but not starting reasons would be spark, fuel or compression so you'll need to know which one is lacking.
