OK folks, here goes...
This past weekend I drove my 1985 CJ7 (2.5L, 4spd) to the desert for a day of hanging with family. Have had no problems in the past, and when I got there, I parked, got out and sat down with a beer. Next thing I know, there's fire under the hood. After putting out said fire, I determined it was caused by an electrical malfunction, which I can fix. However, a boatload of vacuum hoses and rubber fittings on the back side of the engine were burned and melted, and I'm now in the position of having to, once again, run all the vacuum hoses using the diagram from hell, which I'm not excited about. I've decided to explore eliminating the carburetor and all associated octopi and put fuel injection on the old girl.
Here's my question - is there an after-market fuel injection system for the 4-banger, or would I be better off pulling fuel-injected motor from a junkyard and just replacing the whole motor?
