87-90 EGR Required?
« on: May 24, 2006, 08:58:34 AM »
I was wondring do I need the EGR garbage or can I just delete it? If I can delete it, I have access to cheaper headers.  I know the old Carbed JC's its almost a foregone conclusion. I don't see that  it  is part of the computer monitoring system, but I thought I would ask somepeople probablly wiser than me.

------Garbage or not to garbage,
have noticed that anytime I change or disconect anything on my 89 YJ 2.5 w/ TBI, there has been a drop in fuel milage and or power.  I like the 21-23 mpg highway.    :D

Depends on the smog laws in your state, California requires the EGR to pass the smog every couple of years.
