Topic: Mounting tires question.

My tires and rims come in tomorrow, quadratec doesnt offer tire mounting, so I am going to have to do it my self. Any tips? I am going to a pep boys to get it balanced, but I want to save a lil money by mounting em my self. There 31x10.5 on 15x8s.

Without any specific tire pliers, good luck with the mounting, unless you have the beadlock type wheels. Getting the lip of the tire over the rim which is wider will be difficult by hand for sure.  Spend the little $12-15 each and get them mounted.

You could also check with Walmart. Drop them off, pick them up later several hours. Mounting is $10 each, balance, they should be able to balance up to 35" tires as they sell that size under special order. Yah, just another option.

Finally, check with others in the local clubs. They tend to purchase their tires from a reputable shop that will balance them also. Sort of a hang out shop. Most clubs have discounts at such places.

my grandpa used to have a survice station and now he always mounts his own tire.. it isnt the easiest thing to do but if you have 2 crobars it can be done even though some people say its imposible.. just get as much of the lp were it should be without the crow bars then use the bars to wedge and pry it in... it could take some coxing but event ualy you should get it.. and if all else fails as he said go to walmart or samsclub(we did and they mounted and balenced them for a god price) but then again knowing how to do it your self can be valuable down the road..

The best thing you can do is take the tires and rims to a reputable tire shop to install the tires on your rims and balance.
If there tubeless you could rip the beed and if they are tube type you could rip the tube.
Well worth the time and money having the shop do it for $15 - $20 each is a lot cheeper than a new tire.
Trying to be cheep on your jeep will always cost you more later.

you just spent somewhere in the $500 - $1000 range on wheels and tires... are you seriously tryingt o save a measely $40 on mounting?  your time is worth more than that.  just take them somewhere.

Spend the extra cash and have them mounted. A 31" tire is going to be a little cumbersome to handle and mount manually. I tried this once with a set of 33's just for the heck of it... NEVER AGAIN.

This is why I posted here before I even tried it... I didn't think it would be that hard... Didn't even think about damaging the tires... Thanks for the responds. Ill find a shop some where and have them do it.
