Power Steering Pulley
« on: January 03, 2007, 10:02:42 PM »
Hey guys, i am upgrading my 95 yj to power steering. I went down to the local Pick-N-Pull and picked up everything i needed for under $50 excluding the pressure hose and belt. Anyways i pulled the pump from a 93 cherokee. I can't get the stupid Pulley off the pump so i can mount it!!! It is stuck on their good! i have used very thing i could think of to get it off. I got desperate about an hour ago and grabbed a hammer and a pry bar. STILL DIDN'T COME OFF!!! I don't care about the pulley, i already smashed the crap out of it. Anyways Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks guys, But i ditched the stock Airbox a long time ago, i have cold air intake on there now. Also i the guy i bought my jeep from was a cheep bugger. The jeep was stock and i mean STOCK! when i bought it it had205/75/15s on it, original spark plugs. I purchase it in 04 by the way. It has no ac or ps and it had a soft top(jeep is originally from Saskatchewan, Canada) The guy would freeze his B*lls off. IT was a real piece of crap that i thought i got a good deal on! Ha!

i believe you need a puller to get the pulley off...

Yeah, you need to use a puller to get that off. It won't come off any other way.

It looks something like this.

Sometimes your local parts stores will let you rent them for a small fee for a few hours.
02 2.5.L automatic: 4.0L t.b., 4.0l air intake, K&N filter, Scream'n Demon coil, 8.5mm MSD Super Conductor plug wires, Stage 1 Jet Chip, 29" BFG all terrain KO's. Taurus E-fan, Hummer front bumper, Skyjacker high capacity trans pan, 48" hi-lift, Rubi susp w. 3/4" BB.

And don't pound the new one on.That will destroy the pump. Use an installer or at least a bolt with a nut and washer to press it down on.

Ok i have another question for you all!!! I can't find a Pressure hose to work for my jeep. I have 95 wrangler with a ps pump from a 93 Cherokee. The Cherokee Ps hose has the right adapters but the wrong length and visa vera for the Wrangler Ps Hose. The Cherokee hose is only 32inchs while the wrangler hose is 43 3/8 inches. Anyone else ever have this probelm???

i think we had to get a custom line made when we put ps in our cj3a...

See if you have a hydraulic shop in your area like an Eaton Hyd dealer. I've worked with Hyquip a lot of times they'll custom make me a line cheaper than off the shelf. This way you can have it routed exactly the way you want. I've used them for everything from high pressure hyd lines on machines I work on to ss braided lines for my Toronado.
