Topic: 95 yj engine trouble

I need a lot of help, my yj is having problems. It first started with some misfiring and because it has a little over 90k miles I figured it just needed a tuneup. So I replaced the cap, rotor, plugs, and wires. Ran great for about 3 weeks, then it started missin again, not too bad though. I talked to my buddy and he said its probably the ignition coil maybe even the pick-up coil. I replaced the ignition coil and it ran a little better but when it warmed up it missed hard a couple times and then died. Now its on and off when it wants to start, and when it does I can tell somethings not right. I only have up to the time it warms up to do anything because now its guaranteed to die at that point. I also replaced the pick-up and it did nothing. Everywhere I look its something different. I would like to know what you think it could be and how to check the part, because I really don't like the plug and play method. Thanks for the help.

where'd u get your tune up parts?

I picked up the cap, plugs and wires at murray's. The coils and rotor at autozone. Rotor cause murray's gave me the wrong one, I was in a hurry and it was closer. Oh, and I forgot to mention that I probably checked the codes 6 different times. All it brings up is the battery's been disconnected in the last 50 cycles and somethin for the A/C. I was told that the A/C code is normal because I don't have A/C.

Sorry I haven't replied sooner. But I think I found what the problem was. Yesterday the jeep wouldn't start at all so I checked for spark and no go. Started checkin the ignition coil and it wasn't workin. Looked real close and come to find out one of the wires pluggin into the coil broke. There was a tap put on the wire, I'm guessin for the alarm that used to be on there, and the wire  snapped right at that point. I fixed it and so far it runs fine. I just hate how I have checked it a few times and then come to find out it WAS the problem  . Anyways, I'd like to say thanks for the help.

I'll use autozone for just about anything except ignition parts.  Had poor quality in the past.

In my opinion Autozone is good for fluids and seat covers and that's about it. The last time I tried them the parts manager said he had my U-joint on the phone and said it must have been an optical illusion when I went to pick it up. Good parts guys are a dying breed. We still have some good older guys at my local NAPA though.

the worst is when you get a true ricer (not to be confused with a tuner that knows what they are doing)working there that think they know everything but they know nothing.
