Longer Slip Yoke
« on: January 30, 2007, 12:41:16 PM »
I am gathering parts to go spring over. One of the last pieces I need is ether a SYE or one of these longer slip yokes. Has any one heard anything on these? Would this work for awhile? The reason I want to go this rout instead of SYE is because someday I will have saved enough to get a Atlas and don't want to waist the money on a SYE when I will be getting a different T-case anyway. Thanks!!

If you're going SOA.  You NEED a SYE.  Period.  Longer slip isnt the problem, the angles of your pinion/T-case yoke will not stay in alignment in a SOA application (spring wrap etc...)

PORC has the HD SYE kit for $170 and you can get a junkyard XJ front shaft cut, balanced and rebuilt for about a $100.  Dont skimp on the drivetrain...

What he said about the PORC kit and XJ/TJ front shaft shortened for the rear.  I've installed a bunch and they work great.

Sorry to hi-jack your thread, but I'm guessing that shorting a XJ/TJ front shaft will work for a TJ also ... getting ready to do a tera-low, belly up, and SYE. I already have a spare front shaft and the local drivetrain shop quoted me over $300 for a shaft.

Yes, it'll work for almost any HD SYE kit for the 231, the CV attaches to the SYE yoke the same as it does the front CV yoke on an XJ/TJ.

As others have stated the SYE. I also strongly suggest it. You can sell the SYE tcase and rear ds to get some of your money back out of it when you swap the Atlas. If you go with an Atlas, you are going to have to redo the rear ds again.

My other suggestion is to say wait on SOA. If you are building in a step process, going SOA is a major big step and requires a lot of other details to compensate for the SOA.

ok not to get of topic even more.. but a local school district (minnetonka) is going to have like 90% of there k though 5 grade classes (or something like that) will be taught in all Chinese because they think its the language of the future. which is retarded since English is the language of business and this is America...
