Topic: posi losck cable not working....

tried to tow o block of concret the other day with the jeep (working on a very old house here) couldn't get it to go. tried to switch into four wheel and the front never locked up. uh-oh. the jeep came with the posi lock cable already installled, and it use to work, but now, i don't know. have never farted arpund one of these before so any help before i go out into 30 degree weather with 20 mph winds and lay down in a gravel drive way to work on this would be very helpful.

just looked at the company's web page, they have a really good trouble shooting guide, but anyone's personal experience will be appreciated.

If the cable adjustment isn't tight it'll spin on ya and either get too far out or in(prob in), try twisting the botton instead of spinning it.
See if it feels like it catches then loosens up, if it does, you will have to pull the unit out and adjust your fork guide, it could also have lost the c-clip off the little shaft or your fork could be broken, you can either have one mad eor order one from Loc-rite or whatever.
Let me know if you still can't figure it out, I would pull the unit off first, also check for wear on the cable and make sure its not broken any where along the way and taht you have good action inside with the fork.

never though it could be the cable. i'll check that in the morning before i try to pull it apart. thanx!

It may take turning the steering wheel from full lock to full lock, to get the splines lined up so the shift collar will engage.

Any amount of moisture will also cause problems with the disconnect in cold weather.

If you feel resistance in the cable, try turning the steering wheel while putting slight pressure on the cable shifter.
