how can i tell if my injectors are stuck open?
« on: February 12, 2008, 11:05:05 PM »
figured since my head cracked...something must have caused it to do so. fuel pump pressure is good according to jeep dealership. though im gonna check the pressure myself-anyone know what range it should be at??? my injectors could be dirty/clogged/stuck open. i dont know much about em so id like to know how to tell if it is stuck open..i can handle telling if it's dirty or clogged :)
By the way....if im running lean..which overheated my cyl-apparently making my plug shoot a hole through my piston and cracking my block....can anyone please tell me why im getting 9mpg on a 98 4cyl TJ???!!! where is all the fuel going...and none of the mechanics ive taken it to seem to be able to answer this.

Lack of cooling of the rear most cylinder could cause your proplem also. the rear most cylinder in an engine often runs the hottest also debris likes to collect in the coolant jacket around that cylinder. You got to find a cause or it will happen again. Something is wrong and you need to find it. as far as testing your injectors go, you pressurize the fuel rail and pulse each injector the same amount there is a tool that does this then you compare the pressure drop of each injector. also you see if the pressure bleeds of if it does there is a good change an injector is leaking.
