Topic: The reason why to put a winch kill switch

I had mentioned before that my winch had electrical issues, it only moved in, it had to be reeled out manually.
Since it didn't reeled out i left it just like the previous owner left it:

As i was driving back from university today i heard a strange click on the front of the jeep, one of the winch solenoids shorted. The winch started to reel itself in.....

Well, i couldn't disconnect it from the battery soon enough so the winch pulled and pulled so hard that it bent my front bumper, cracked itself into 2 pieces and eventually burned.....

As my anger and frustration decrease i will go outside and get some pics.....

Yup.  I had my 8274 freak out on me once when I was pulling someone in.  It decided it didn't want to stop after I let off the switch and I had to rip one of the wires out of it.    After that I put in a Marine A/B/AB switch so taht I could easily kill all power to the winch.

The red arrow points at one of the parts where it broke. Anyone know if it's safe to repair? Or will it break again at some critical situation ?

Hmmm.  Never heard of a kill switch.

The mechanical damage doesn't look too bad.  The electical part will be more trouble probably.

Fairly common break, you'll just need someone who can weld aluminum to fix it for you.
