shocks...Rubicon OEM or "Rubicon Express Monotubes"?
« on: April 25, 2008, 05:53:52 PM »
Replacement coils finally en route for my Banger (Jeep Rubicon OEM parts). The old coils were sagging badly. I was all set to buy the Rubicon Express budget boost with Monotube shocks but I've been offered a VERY good deal on some OEM Jeep Rubicon shocks. Any opinions on Monotubes VS OEM Rubicon Nitro shocks? I'll be using coil spacers in either case. Didn't know if OEM's were inferior to the Monotubes or vice versa. cheers.

If you are using OEM Rubicon springs, the go with the OEM Rubicon shocks.  If you going to put in a 2" BB, then use the RE shocks.  The Rubicon springs aren't really much longer, they are stiffer for the added weight of the Rubicon package.  IE: My 3" lift wound up being 4" because I have a 4cyl and a soft top.  If I had the 6cyl and a hard-top, it would be 3".  You can expect something similar, like 1" - 1.5" using Rubicon OEM parts.  Don't forget to align it!
