exhaust suggestions
« on: January 27, 2009, 06:30:37 PM »
my exhaust has basically gone bad, has that nice rattle coming from underneath.

I wanted to install a new exhaust, but done know what i should put in

i look at cat back systems, and of course the flowmaster systems, but know what to chose

its gonna be doing a good amount of commuting for school, but as of now it does alot of around town.

so if you guys could, i need suggestions for a good system that gives a good amount of power cause i could always use that.
im also on a tight budget so the cheepest ones would be greatly appreciated

Hit a couple of local muffler shops for bids and let them know they're in competition.  My exhaust system cost less than most popular commercial systems available, gives me a nice sound,  and is free flowing.  Just don't expect to get a quantum leap in performance.

Parts are gonna depend on who you buy from and brands you buy. There are lots of choices with lots of prices.
Labor is gonna depend on your area. Prices vary from state to state and town to town. Call around your area to see what shops are getting.

I would look into Banks Power.  They are of good quality and produce a good tone,  but a free flow exhaust is going to be loud no matter what...so be prepared at high rpms.  You will gain some on the top end but lose some on the low end.  I went with a Banks header and monster exhaust,  600-800 plus labor.

I just put a Banks Monster cat-back on a TJ, fit real well and was easy to install.  One of the cheaper ones out there.
