teraflex belly pan with warn engine skid???
« on: August 10, 2009, 03:16:33 PM »
Ok i'm getting a teraflex belly pan and would like to know if i can
use a warn engine skid with this?

Im worried that the belly pan will be to high and with the engine skid connected it will
hit the oil pan. Any idea if this will work?

thanx for the help.

I don't know, but figure that there is some great distance between the mounting points of the front portion and rear portion of the engine skid, that if you use proper gr8 bolts, you would be able to pull them together.

I looked at that idea and im goin to have to make my own skid that steps down at the low part of the oil pan
for clearance.
Idon't think its going to be a big deal to make the skidplate which will be good because everything will be flush
so there should be nothing to hang up on.
Has anyone had any shifter problems with the transfer case useing the belly up skid plate?

For a belly up you might want to consider a motor mount lift to keep the rear drive line angle under control after that the engine/ trans skid should  clear the oil pan

The teraflex belly pan comes with a 5/8" motor mount spacer.
I was hoping i wouldn't need to install it because i have a advanced adapters sye and CV
driveshaft.
Dose anyone think I can get away with out the motor mount spacers?

I put a Dirty Fab Works skid under my TJ (which is lower profile than the skid your installing, 1" below the frame).  I also have s super short SYE, CV style driveshaft and I needed a 1" motor mount lift.  Its easy to install and cheap.  You'll at least need the 5/8's lift that comes with the skid.

hey Jcsanders79,
Thanx for the heads up on dirty fadworks, looks like the make some really nice stuff.
Just curious what did the belly up from dirty fab cost?
How dose your transfer case shift with the high clearance skid?

I can't remember how much it cost but it was much cheaper than the Teraflex skid.  The transercase shifts fine.  Had to adjust the linkage but nothing crazy, its all stock.

Well got the skid plate today and installed it in about 20mins.
Then i spent the next 2 hours adjusting the shifter linkage and i still don't have it shifting right
shifts good from 2HIGH and 4HIGH but i can't get it to engage 4LOW
The linkage mount on the transmission is now higher then the body mount
I think thats whats causing it to bind and not go into low range
  Any ideas?

The motor mount lift metioned before and a 1" body lift should get everything lined up again.

That is what I did and the rod for the shift linkage is horizontal again even though everything worked with just the motormount lift

don't you need a b/l with that? just wondering since it wounds like it pushes the tranny up at least 5/8s or so

On a Tj it should clear, I only added a 1" body lift to clear the tank  when I replaced the tank skid 2003 and later it needs a body lift to get the nicer tank skids under there that give you some more clearance. The transfer case will clear when you redo the trans mount some to drop it as close as possible to the  bellyup skid

Well good news the skid is on and i have the transfer case shifting like factory.

I talk to a friend that owns a local driveshaft and jeep shop and he suggested moving the body
mount. So i drilled 4 new holes 1 1/2" higher and remounted the body bracket.
now it shifts just like from the factory.

On my TJ there is plenty of room around the transmisson and body.

I should have mentioned that you would need to relocate the tc shift point (or drill a 2" hole in your tub) but I forgot about it.  I went with drilling a hole was the easiest way at the time.
