Going to the dark side
« on: September 30, 2009, 02:08:09 PM »
I would like to tank everyone for all the info on the forum. However I am heading to the dark side. I can no longer stand the under powered 4 cyl that was factory in my 99 TJ. I yanked it out last week. I have a 6cyl lined up and ready to go in. Starting the conversion tonight. No offence but jeep never should have made a 4cyl that is as under powered as mine.

Jeep on...

:ban: Just kidding :fitz: Good luck on the dark side.
Rumor has it that you can eat all the food you want on the dark side since the food there has no calories? Let us know it that is true or not.

Using tools you have not used in a while is like shaking hands with old friends.

You can always disconnect two spark plug wires if you want to come back...

But seriously, the 4.0 is a rugged engine with lots of upgrade options (e.g., 4.7 liter stroker).  Have fun!

98 TJ, 35 BFG Krawlers, 4.0 liter, ax15, atlas 5:1, armor, Super 88 (under construction)
96 XJ Cheep Cherokee, 33s, 4.0 liter, AW4, future project
89 Waggy, 360 V8 727 dana 44s, it runs

I'd go V8 also.  Not to much more $.  I looked into it and as long the drivetrain is up to it there isn't to much more involved in a v8 vs a 6.

Indyjeepnut has a cj with an sbc that runs on propane, his TJ is his daily driver that he got really cheap and he got a good deal on the 6 cyl. with tranny, t-case, drive shafts, computer and wiring harness.
