Its stuck yo...
« on: March 06, 2010, 07:32:00 PM »
My cherokee needs a new battery, but the postive side terminal is really really stuck on.  I tapped it with a hammer and it slowly moves over, I took a pry bar and pryed on it a bit but it just flexes the top of the battery.  Any other ideas on how to get it off?  Might be a dumb question but  can I spray PB blaser or WD 40 on it to maybe try and eat at some of those bad things that are causing it to stick?  I don't want to break anything right now as the YJ is sitting in the garage with no Transfer case, can't be out two vehicles

If you want to get really fancy you can buy the correct tool for the job:

Personally I would just remove the bolt completely and then tap a big screwdriver in the slot to spread the clamp.

also, hot water removes the deposits best

but that's more after you manage to take off the terminal and that's an x2 for the bolt suggestion.
