Performance Distributor Ignition/stock injectors
« on: June 13, 2010, 10:35:53 PM »
Since i read the write up in here, i ordered me a set. WOW! Just WOW!

For starters, i ohmed out my stock ignition wire. 5.4ohms.  Then i ohmed out the PD coil wire. And got 0.4! Holy cow.

Unfortunately for me, i had just bought some new E3 spark plugs. And decided to run them with this new set up.
They worked great at first. But in only a couple days, with a close ear I could hear them slowly dieing.

So i pulled them, and sure enough, with only a couple days on them, the center electrode was starting to look lop sided (eroded).

So i went to pick up some double platinum (like Pat told me to do). But could only get single for the time being.

Threw them in and alls well. I now have Champion double platinums in since no one locally sells the Autolite DP's. No biggie.

One thing  I can say about this coil is it is HOT! All my plugs (and ive pulled alot out of this thing) look quite lean.

Then I got to thinking. Im running the Ford injectors. The ones (if i recall) that have a lower flow than the stock jeep injectors, but better atomization (resulting in better burn).

And i still have never been happy with the power (or lack there of) in this 2.5. So i decided to try switching back to the stock injectors.

Unless, there is something i have missed. I am now getting more power than i was before with the yellow tops (not a crap load, but noticeable).
I cruise alot of back roads. So i have plenty of hills and hollers to gauge by. And im able to gain up small grades in 4th gear now. And i can actually get into and stay in 5th on some back roads.

that's b/c the ford ones flow less than the stockers.

you need an adjustable FPR (i'm not pimping my stuff, but that's the easiest way to get more fuel and lower the AFR).
