Roller Rockers, roller hydraulic lifters and valve springs
« on: July 09, 2010, 11:52:57 PM »
since we're talking performance cams lately i thought i'd bring this up

Roller Rockers:
did some research and i found some mentioning of Big Block Chevy on i6 4.0 or 4.2 (can't remember) but it was the early model with only 1 stud per cylinder and required an adapter plate - not a problem in my case but with the newer head each rocker has it's own stud and if there is an offset requirement would be an issue since there would be no room to drill new stud holes

now i know that the heads are almost identical with the exception of the 2 missing cylinders, question is does anyone know if the BBC roller rockers have the same distance from stud to valve tip?

i know yella terra makes a set, so does mopar but that would be too easy and more expensive than a set of 1.7 rockers from ebay - you can get a set of 16 for about $130 shipped (which would make 2 sets for the 4banger)

there would be some machining required for aligning pins (and i don't know how hard the shafts are and if you can drill them to have aligning pins between the intake and the exhaust rocker shafts) and also a need for adapter studs from 3/8 to 7/16

there would also be a need for a spacer on the valve cover, probably easier to use 2 covers cut and welded together

i also don't know what the max travel of the valve is just in case the ratio on the rockers is 1.7 (seems that these are more available than the 1.6 ratio)

want to hear your opinions on this, pros/cons and pricing if you know of reasonable priced sets

Roller Hydraulic lifters:
I don't have any info on this, not sure if the ones with plates would work (if there is any room between the head and the block) and i even more unsure if the slip in guides would work either

also, don't know of what is interchangeable as in what other engines have the same height and outside diameter of the lifter

if you have any info on this would be appreciated.

Valve springs (performance):
i know the Mopar ones work but if you know of any other ones that would fit please post some info. All i know is that the stock ones on the Jeep are 1.420 o.d. and about 80lb at installed height, so same here please post some info if you know details.

thanks all,
