24 lb. injectors
« on: September 29, 2010, 05:50:45 PM »
I just ordered the Screamin Demon ignition set up, and now I'm debating if I should get 24 lb. injectors to go with it. My stock injectors are working fine, but with the hot ignition and 62mm throttle body, would it be to my advantage to do the injectors as well? One place that sells injectors even told me that the ECM (PCM?) would limit the amount of fuel anyway, so they wouldn't make any difference.
No matter where you're going, there you are.

2 things here - your stock injectors are 23.2lb/hr at 49 psi, the ones you were looking at were probably 24lb/hr at 43.5psi which means more than 24 at 49 psi so be careful there, the actual flow at 49 psi for these injectors is 25.5lb/hr and that is about 10% more than stock, would affect your AFR more than what you probably want.

the shop was right only when it comes to closed loop but your PCM will not readjust for open loop.

I replaced my injectors about 50,000 miles ago. I used the dark orange Ford racing injectors # 0 280 156 013. They have 4 holes (compared to one hole in the oem) for better atomization and the same lbs as stock. I noticed the engine ran smoother, I picked up 1-2 mpg but I did not get any noticeable horsepower increase.
Good luck
