Cold weather non start ? ? ?
« on: February 22, 2006, 04:45:14 PM »
After a cold nite here in Wy., I tried to start my 89 YJ 2.5. It started
and ran about 3 sec. then engine died. Tried to start it few times
since then, but all it does is sound like it is hitting on only one cyl. and
will not start.  Have checked all I canThis has never happened before.
I do not have a code reader, and theon-off key trick does not work on
this year Wrangler. I have reset the computer, no luck there ether.
Any suggestions of what it mite be ? ? ?

If you haven't already, check the fuel filter.  It may not be gettin enough fuel to stay runnin while cold.  Next guess would be the spark plugs or spark plug wires.  If a vacuum line is disconnected, it might not run, dependin on how big the leak is.

peddle that is unpluged - was unpluged when I got the jeep.

Throttle Body Fuel Pressure Regulator
« Reply #3 on: February 25, 2006, 08:32:16 AM »
The Throttle Body Fuel Pressure Regulator burped, was the problem
and the reason the lil 4 banger flooded. Was told it could also cause
bad fuel milage as well as a "no fuel" situation.
Could be different on other 1989 Jeep Wrangler YJ modles w/throttle
body, but in my YJ, there is no "on-off-on-off-on"code reading system.
$30.00 for the dealership scan. Not bad
