Clutch on 93 YJ...4cyl motor and 6cyl trans??
« on: February 21, 2011, 01:28:09 PM »
(My first post) I have a 93 YJ and need a clutch... anyone know what I should do if I have a 4 cyl motor and a 6cyl trans? As far as I can tell its a 6 cyl trans by looking in the manual... says the bleeder valve for clutch on a 4cyl is on the right but its on the left of my trans... thats why I think its a 6cyl trans.  Any help finding out for sure or that I'm just and Idiot would be nice.  Thanks! Robert.

is it external or internal slave? not sure where the bleeder valve is on the internal slave but on the external they are both on the driver side for 2.5 and 4.0 transmissions.

OK, External on the firewall and yep, the bleeder is on the driver side.  The Chilton manual says Different stuff about the bleeder position relating to 4 or 6 cyl... but I really hate following those books too close sometimes... not being a master mec. they can be confusing.  Thanks...

the one on the firewall is the clutch master cylinder, you need to look for the slave cylinder which is bolted on the bellhousing on the driver side if it's external. If it is internal then see ^ chadrc's post.
