Topic: D35 yoke bearing question

Could it all have been caused by housing flex?  Housing flex, pinion hits locker case, pinion gets pushed forward, ends up with play, etc.?

Would the gears even mesh well with the pinion installed so far toward the carrier?

Housing was checked; it's straight...

The bearing was out (and everything else was out) when I went by the shop on Saturday (on my way to the airport), so that's not the case...  

I was talking about the other shop (that used the angle grinder on the pinion).

there is no way the center can flex that much, it's cast.

Actually, according to Superior, the correct procedure IS to grind down the pinion (I was shown the communication), so we are went in that direction again (seems that's why it was done on the other one).  Now the pinion and ring are working just fine with no made up parts.

unfortunately, now it sseems the inertia ring was contacting the engine block (not installed properly), so we will fix that as well as a bearing that was acting up (and a new clutch).

Well, the ring and pinion are now working jsut fine, but now it seems the DS is acting up as well.  There was some vibrations with the rear DS (none when we ran the Jeep in 4H and no rear DS, so it's defenetly that), so I had to get me a new one (no real good DS shops in Panama, unfortunately!).  The good news is tha the Jeep will be running as smooth as a baby's behind when i am all done with this fixes!  In the mean time, the wallet is getting a bit thin, though!
