Skip at low rpm
« on: July 09, 2011, 09:58:38 PM »
90 yj got a real bad skip at low rpm but will clear up in the higher Rpms. Any ideas to what it might be. Trying to fix it but what to start in good direction.

x2 on the what do you mean by skipping

how are the spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor? my 1990 will run like its only on 3 cyl if you have a big enough vacuum leak (would still cut off air enough to idle at normal rpm but would run lean and act like its on 3 cyl) but would still run normal at higher rpms. actually could take off 1 to 2 spark plug wires at idle and not change the idle at all :uhoh:

At idle it does not do it. And if it does it is not that noticeable. But when crawling it will barely run till you get up around 2500-3000 rpm

Look at the engine in the dark, you might spot some sparks from bad spark plug wires.
