Question- RUBICON SPRINGS ?
« on: October 07, 2012, 05:35:20 AM »
I sure this has been talk about before, but my question is does rubicon springs fit on a 97 TJ with a 2.5L engine. Are they actually taller of just a higher spring rate. Will it lift my rig and by how much?. Will I get a stiffer ride? Does anyone out there know or have any experience with swapping to these springs. Your help or feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks my fellow 4 bangers and happy 4 wheeling.

Yes, but really depends. The spring rate is different compared to your 4cyl spring rate. However, you are comparing similar years or older 4cyl coils to newer Rubi coils?

When I did the swap for 97 (soft top) to 05 Rubi LJ (w/hardtop), I gained 1" or so. You could also look at v8 ZJ coils up front and their rears out back.

I did the same thing, I swapped out newer LJ springs front and rear. I gained 1 inch (measured at the front bumper) in the front and 1.25 inches in the rear (measured at the tub)

This happened for 2 reasons,

1) My springs are from 99 and they are tired from holding all the weight of my front bumper and winch, So they started to sag unlike my barely used 06 LJ springs I swapped in

2) The Spring rate is higher on the LJ springs because they are designed to hold up a larger Jeep with a bigger motor

I cant give a good answer on if it rides better, because I dont daily drive it, nor am I picky about stuff like that. Its a jeep with a homemade drive shaft of course it vibrates
