P0304 code in daughters 97
« on: May 10, 2016, 03:57:07 PM »
Hello all

Have a recurring issue in my daughters 97 2.5L.  Started throwing a P0304 code a few weeks ago.  Replaced plugs, cap, rotor, wires and it came back a few days later.  Have done some googling but haven't found many ideas.  Any thoughts on what might be happening?

Maybe a bad connector somewhere, maybe even at the computer.

Have you looked at the injectors? I had a recurring misfire code on my 02 wj which has the 4.7l (I know not the same engine....). Ended up being a injector clogging up. You could try swapping injector #4 with another injector and see if the code follows the injector.

Actually just ordered a set of rebuilt 4 hole injectors for it, as well as a new set of rods and lifters.  Figure I'd throw $125 worth of parts at it and see what happens.

FWIW, the injectors fixed the problem, no codes in weeks.   Which is good since we just put it up for sale yesterday.
