Thank you for your inquiry sorry nothing for the jeep YJ just not enough of a market for us to invest the time required to engineer this kit, but thank you for the inquiry.

I post a lot on a forum called www.4bangerjp.com ; it's a forum which is basically comprised of members with Wranglers (and some CJs) running  the 2.5L or later 2.4L fours.   I Personally like the Airaid design versus other CAIs  out there, but dismayed that Airaid doesn't offer such a CAI yet  for the 91-95 YJ 2.5L .  Every guy with the Jeep 4 cylinder Wrangler is looking for more HP/TQ from the smaller engine (samller than the 4.0 I6), so an AIRAID CAI for YJ4s would likely be a big seller.  Hopefully, you already have a shipment on its way to stores.

I was looking for a CARB-certified intake for my YJ4 and I liked the look of the Airaid design.  Intake I have currently is not ce...well, anyway   Was planning to go to Turbo City in a few months, have them install their MAP sensor and then get the vehcile properly configured for good pollution results.  The CARB-aproved intake was just to round things out with the pollution folks.  But, Airaid essentially says no deal to to no market.

This ticks me off.  I've seen a couple of other pending or approved CAI designs made for the YJ4, but the shields they provide don't really appear to seal the intake off from engine heat  (lots of gap in shield to allow intake to accomodate engine movement on its mounts, I guess).  Kind of counting on something from Airraid.

Instead of a cold air intake, i'd try getting a header coated to try and prevent some of that exaust heat from soaking the intake manifold. That would yield lower IAT temps then a CAI in my opinion.

That's a smart idea, power wise, focusing on the header to cool the air in the engine bay. Makes sense and I think I recall a friend who did that effectively on a Ford truck

The only thing is that I have california smog certs to deal with, so I wanted to get a CARB approved kit.   Coated header would be awesome, but it doesn't square me with CARB.

If you have a previously CARB approved header how would adding a coating void the cert? I don'r really care since I try to avoid California all together, but it is something to think about.

My initial idea wouldn't be to coat the header unless I was buying a new one, but to take  some of the new black wrap and wrap it. Wrap is old school, but who needs all this new fangled stuff.

Only problem i've seen with wrap is that it holds water and tends to speed up rust. I'll probably end up rapping my pacesetter header down the road when i chop it up to attach the turbo, but i'm ghetto lol.

Why not rap the intake instead of the exhaust? Should have the same principle right? Keep heat out instead of in? The intake is aluminum, so you wouldn't have to worry about it rusting. Am I wrong?
